Keep it Kente
I absolutely love kente, it's a beautiful fabric, so when I spotted this gorgeous black and white kente ankara in my favourite fabric shop I was over the moon. Here's what I made:
I love that the look has a 1950s pinup/rockabilly vibe, it's really fun and playful, which is great because sometimes fashion takes itself way tooo seriously:

ReplyDeleteIt’s actually a skirt and a bra top. For modesty’s sake I wore it with a shirt. I must admit though I did cheat with the bra top, I just covered an old bra with the fabric. I’m top heavy and it's hard getting bra cups larger than E so I just use old/cheap strapless bras, it’s easier that way and there are fewer wardrobe malfunctions.

yes i do like it! i enjoy making bustiers out of bras too, the only problem like you stated is the sizing; they end up not covering the full area lol well all the same skirt and bra top or dress ....it looks good!
