Le Sport Africain

So the African Cup of Nations is over and Zambian team were crowned champions, not that I follow football much but it does kinda relate to this post in a weird indirect way, I suppose.  My look for today's post was inspired by this season's sport luxe trend with an added African twist (hence the poor reference to African football, forgive me peeps).

My favourite piece of the look is my DIY varsity style jacket. It was originally a jumper (that I got from the menswear section in Primark), I cut the front in half and stitched a dark brown open end zipper over the raw edges and I must say that I am loving the results, I've wanted a jacket like this for ageeees. I also love the ankara fabric the pencil skirt was made from, it similar to something Ituen Basi used for her 2010 collection.

    1. I studied textiles at secondary school, where I learnt basic sewing skills but most of the stuff I know now I learnt through trial and error, reading books, blogs, sewing forums and magazines. I use a domestic sewing machine, a Brother LS-2125, it's a pretty decent machine really, it does the job and is super easy to use - I quite like Brother sewing machines.
